COLOURS by Jay FKay
Just like we teased, the budding rapper and lyricist is set for another new music again just weeks after his last sound “Oreo”.
Jay FKay has shown consistency in the field of music, his fans are lucky because he never leaves them to dry out, there’s always a new song for them for the road. Every sound suiting whatever occasion you need it for.
“Colours” is a melodic rap record with strong RnB and lo-fi influences, built around the idea of love as a spectrum rather than a single emotion.
This new sound is titled “COLOURS”. Tell me you don’t need colours on everything you do. This one promises to beautify everything, to give you all shades.
When we asked Jay FKay, he told us that ‘the inspiration for “COLOURS” came from wanting to express affection in a more visual and poetic way’.
He used colours as metaphors for admiration, attraction, comfort, and emotional depth.
Jay Fkay: In the first verse, I explored my lyrical range by describing how much I love this girl through different colours, each representing a different feeling or moment. The verse concludes with the realization that she looks good in every colour — not just pink — emphasizing that love isn’t limited to one shade, mood, or expectation.
The hook of COLOURS reinforces this theme emotionally and sonically when the singer said:
“You’re the colour to my eyes, girl I am not blind. You bring colour to my life, when we touch its neon lights.”
It captures how love sharpens perception and adds vibrancy to everyday life.
The second verse is more introspective and playful, reflecting on vulnerability, attraction, and emotional honesty while maintaining a relaxed, melodic flow.
Overall, “Colours” is a warm, intimate record designed to feel both reflective and accessible emotions.
